Never a Dull Day

There is never a dull day here on the Happy Kids Farm… Even though these goats look fairly content or bored. The last few weeks have been busy around the farm.

The goats are content!

New Additions to the Farm

We've had several new animal additions to the farm over the past few weeks. Some of the animals were expected, and some were not. However, it is always a joy to have new animals on the farm, as they are so much fun, and we enjoy raising them and observing the unique personalities of each one. Here's a small sampling of the new livestock we have.

Cows

We expanded our cow herd by introducing five new calves. These boys all came from one of the local farms, and for the most part, they have adjusted well to their new surroundings, except for one night when they decided to go exploring, which resulted in them showing up at a neighboring farm a few miles away. After rounding them all up and bringing them back to their new home, they seem to be settling in well.

Piggies

Baby pigs are always a joy to have around; they have the funniest personalities on the farm.Piggies

We initially planned to acquire just two new pigs, but somehow, in the process, we ended up with four. But they are a lot of fun to have around. Initially, they were skeptical about their new surroundings and caretakers, but now, when you go out to feed them, they come running and love their feeding time and feeders!

Goats

Goats are the main attraction on the Farm!

Feeding TimeWe have added four more goats to the herd, which consists of two Nigerian Dwarf/Fainter bucklings and two Fainter does. The bucklings are approximately 10 weeks old and have adjusted to their surroundings, feeding nicely. However, the girls are still bottle-fed, and at 4 weeks old, we continue to feed them every 8 hours.

Our granddaughters love visiting the baby goats and helping with feeding time.

Chickens

We currently have 15 chickens, which provide us with a dozen eggs per day. We have another 35 coming in June, along with 10 Guinea Hens. We anticipate that our egg production will increase over the next few months, which will help meet the expected growth in demand.

Farm Store

Farm StoreThis is one of our most anticipated additions to the farm. Although it is still under construction (with an expected opening in mid-June), considerable activity has been ongoing. Plumbing work, Electrical work, and concrete work have all started but have been delayed due to the weather. Hopefully, we can enjoy a stretch of dry weather, allowing us to stay on track with the opening date.

We launched this project in October 2024 and hope that our patrons will enjoy the products we plan to offer. Watch for more details about our store in the future.
